And I reviewed the barrage of notifications

That accumulated over the last week on my phone

and I said to myself:

There’s an emotionally manipulative dynamic happening here.

I don’t need to tolerate this.

It’s even more f*cked up

Because they make money either off ads

or selling premium subscriptions

My attention span is profit to them.

I deleted the app

I’ll learn Italian on my own time

Under my own volition

Not out of shame

And capitalism exploiting

My crippling need

To fulfill every ask

Someone has of me.
